Welcome to SriLankan Cargo, the dedicated
Cargo Website of SriLankan Airlines.
We are in the process of developing this web site
further, to provide you, our valued customer, with more information
regarding our products and services. Our web site not only enables
you to conveniently book shipments and obtain the current status
of cargo but also allows you to track your cargo during transportation,
through the press of a button.
SriLankan Cargo is a stand-alone entity, with twice-weekly freighter
services to Male and a once a week service to Gan Islands in the
Maldives, six weekly services to Bangalore, thrice-weekly services
to Chennai and a weekly flight to Trivandram in India, using two
dedicated Antonov AN 12F cargo freighters.
Our modern fleet of airbuses
and wide range of air cargo products definitely provide our customers
with a reliable and efficient service. SriLankan Cargo has greatly
expanded its operations as the airline rapidly expands its fleet,
frequencies and number of destinations covering a network of 43
destinations in 23 countries in Europe, the Indian sub-continent,
Middle East, Far East and South East Asia.
SriLankan Cargo is currently handling a greater volume of business
than ever before, and the capacity of imports, exports and trans-shipment
cargo is increasing. We expect this upward trend to continue, as
we expand our dedicated freighter operations in the region, coupled
with the expansion of regular flights.
SriLankan Cargo is also exploring the possibility of acquiring a
third freighter. Increased cargo traffic is also expected following
the recent signing of the South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA),
which is aimed at making a free trade bloc of India, Pakistan, Sri
Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives.
Our regional freighter service coupled with our scheduled
services is making Colombo the most efficient gateway to the large
South Indian market. The Colombo Airport (Bandaranaike International
Airport), home base of SriLankan Cargo, is being transformed into
a major Cargo Hub in the South Asian region. Strategically located
mid-way between Europe and the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, it
moves over 125,000 metric tonnes of cargo per annum while further
growth is expected.
The earlier capacity of the Cargo Centre was 100,000 metric tones
per year; however, SriLankan Cargo far exceeded this and handled
125,000 metric tones last year. A second warehouse, which is currently
under construction, will increase the Centre’s annual handling
capacity to 300,000 metric tonnes. SriLankan Cargo handles cargo
of all airlines, numbering about 30, which operate through Colombo.
We have made significant investments in Information Technology to
ensure that dispatching consignments on SriLankan Cargo is hassle
free. Our advanced automated cargo tracking system, www.sriLankanskychain.com
ensures efficient handling operations and tracks each shipment from
the point of reservation through to final delivery.
We can handle special cargo
including livestock, perishables and valuables. We provide customers
with the fastest service in delivery and collection and have set
up express channels for urgent and courier consignments.
We hope we have been of service and satisfied your needs. We will
endeavour to keep you posted on the current development of our services
and hub facilities on a regular basis by continuously updating our
websites.
We also take this opportunity to invite you to visit us again. Please
